Get Active Near You is a project that implements the Finnish model for leisure activities in Hämeenlinna. The project was launched in Hämeenlinna’s comprehensive schools over the course of spring 2021. The activities take place before or after the school day, on or near the school premises. Each activity lasts approximately 60 minutes, and participation is free of charge. In addition to weekly activities, Sports and Hobby Kiosks are organised at schools, allowing children to try out various activities. As an integral part of the operation, Get Active Near You also involves varied tours and events.

The project offers a diverse range of sports and cultural activities, and the annual schedule is designed based on schoolchildren’s wishes. As all of the Get Active Near You activities take place in open groups, children can participate in activities organised at any school. Registration for activities is available via the Hellewi online service. For the updated schedule and registration link, please visit www.hameenlinna.fi/hil
