Winter Holiday at Hämeenlinna City Museum
Museum Skogster: What kind of creatures have you seen in your dreams? Draw them on paper and leave the drawing to customer service, and it will be displayed to admire in the children’s section of Hämeenlinna Main Library, in the Onnimanni room.
You can see all kinds of creatures while sleeping! In the past, it was believed that the “Unihuppias” would appear in a dream to help the dreamer solve a problem or reveal the location of hidden treasure. The “Herättäjätonttu” would wake you up if danger or tardiness threatened. Nightmares and bogeymen brought fear and excitement. Some of these creatures can also be found in the museum’s “Asleep” exhibition. The “Dream Tapestries” exhibition, on the other hand, guides visitors through the world of dreams and dreams in literature.
Museum Skogster open Tue, Thu-Sun 11 AM-5 PM, Wed 11 AM-6 PM.
Palander House: There is not much information about the history of snowmen, but they have been made in Finland since the 1800s. Whether there is snow outside or not, the museum has provided children with the opportunity to craft a mini snowman or “string roll” during the winter holiday.
Palander House open during winter holiday weeks (weeks 8-10) Tue-Sun 12-4 PM.
