Multilingual civic orientation is a service where immigrants receive information about Finnish society in their own native language. It supports the integration process by helping newcomers understand how Finnish society functions, find their place, and participate actively in daily life and available services.
According to law, civic orientation must include information on topics such as:
- Living, everyday life, and working in Finland
- How Finnish society operates, and the rights and responsibilities of residents
- Basic and human rights and equality
- Employment, entrepreneurship, and the labour market
- Studying and educational opportunities
- Participation, association activities, volunteering, and ways to engage in society
The purpose of the course is to provide a clear and comprehensive picture of life in Finland, so that immigrants can integrate more quickly, make informed decisions, and build their future with confidence.
