Join a Photography Project and the Women’s Living Room

women in a agroup
We are looking for women from diverse backgrounds to take part in a unique photography project and Women's Living Room! We will organize photography trips to nearby natural destinations. These trips are part of the Women’s Living Room activities, where women of all ages—both Finnish and with immigrant backgrounds—are warmly welcome. The project is carried out in collaboration with photographer Anu Hätinen.

Women’s Living Room – a safe and open group for women

In the Living Room, you will…

  • get to know others and share everyday life – you may find new friends
  • discuss and learn from others
  • meet others openly and respectfully
  • build connections across languages and cultures
  • strengthen trust and a sense of community

You can simply relax and enjoy some quiet time, or actively participate in the activities. The Living Room also offers opportunities to try and be inspired by different creative activities. Creativity can be expressed in many ways, such as dance, crafts or writing poetry.

Participation does not require commitment, but regular meetings allow for deeper interaction. All experiences and life situations are welcome.

The Living Room is open on April 17, May 8, May 22, June 5 and June 26 from 6PM to 8PM.
Address: Hämeen Setlementti, Keskustalo – Palokunnankatu 16, 13100 Hämeenlinna.

Nature trips and the photography project

In addition to the Living Room, we will organize photography trips in nature:

  • enjoy nature and relax together
  • photograph participants in different situations
  • capture authentic encounters and stories

The photo sessions may highlight personal culture and identity (e.g. traditional clothing), everyday moments and time spent together in nature. The photographs taken during the project will be compiled into an exhibition, which will be displayed at the library in spring 2027.

The schedules for the trips will be agreed upon after the Living Room activities begin.

Welcome to the Women’s Living Room and our shared trips!
