students in a classroom learning on a course

The goal of the integration training is to have the student achieve functional basic language skills (language proficiency level B1.1 = YKI middle level (3)). The study modules of the integration training are as follows:

FINNISH LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  • speaking, listening comprehension, writing and reading comprehension
  • everyday interaction and communication in Finnish
WORKING LIFE AND CIVIC SKILLS
  • employment and occupations in Finland
  • on-the-job learning (at actual workplaces)
  • Finnish society
GUIDANCE
  • students are supported in their studies during their education
  • grading
  • studying skills
  • every day skills

The study modules are discussed as a package, not separately! Finnish language, working life and civic skills are all discussed throughout the day.

Integration training takes place in the daytime, 5 days a week and about 6 hours a day.

Language of instruction: Finnish. Studying includes both contact and distance learning.

Learning requires regular and active participation in teaching and independent study.

The early stages of the integration training (Mod1 + Mod2) focus on basic Finnish language skills, and then Mod3 and Mod4 emphasise working life and professional training.

Integration training consists of modules. The duration and progression rate of the modules may vary according to the group’s skill level. The training includes the modules required by the student, not necessarily all the modules.
