Register your child for Mother Tongue Class by 20th of March

koulupöytä
If you want your child to take part in mother tongue class in the school year 2026–2027, or if you want your child to stop attending mother tongue class, follow these instructions. Remember to register your child even if they already attended the class in the school year 2025–2026.

How to register

Registration is done only in Wilma. Registration period: 9.–20.3.2026. Important: Each child must be registered separately.

Steps for registration

  1. Log in to Wilma in a web browser: https://hameenlinna.inschool.fi
  2. Choose Lomakkeet (Forms) from the top menu.
  3. Open the form Ilmoittautuminen oman äidinkielen opetukseen (Registration for mother tongue class).
  4. Fill in all the required information.
  5. Click Tallenna (Save).

When you save the form, the information is sent to the student information system. You can check the information by opening the form again. Registrations are accepted only through the Wilma form.

Registration is voluntary, but binding

  • You may choose whether to register your child.
  • If you register your child by 20 March 2026, you cannot cancel the registration after this date.
  • If the student starts the lessons, they must attend for the whole school year.
  • A student cannot join the teaching in the middle of the school year if they were not registered on time, unless there is room in an existing group.
  • If your child moves to another municipality during the school year, you can: cancel the teaching or apply for a new mother tongue group in the new municipality.

Information about mother tongue class

  • Teaching is arranged if at least 4 students register for the same language and a teacher is available.
  • Students from different grade levels may be in the same group.
  • Lessons take place outside the regular school day, 2 × 45 minutes at a time.
  • Lessons may be held at another school, not necessarily at the child’s own school.
  • Parents are responsible for the child’s travel to and from the lessons. The municipality does not pay for transportation and does not arrange it.
  • The teaching is free of charge.

If you have any questions or problems filling in the form, you can get help by email perusopetus@hameenlinna.fi or visit the International Family Guidance Service at Kastelli.
