This year’s theme is safety. By addressing racism, you can help create safer communities for everyone. How can we make Hämeenlinna a city for all? Visit the campaign website to learn more about Week Against Racism.
What Do Equality and Gender Equality Mean?
Below, we explain in clear language what we mean by equality and gender equality.
Equality means that all people are equally important.
A person’s value does not depend on their gender, age, ethnic background, nationality, language, religion, opinions, disability, health, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic.
Discrimination is always wrong.
Gender equality means that people of different genders have the same rights and opportunities.
It also means that power and opportunities are shared fairly among different people.
In decision-making, gender equality means that decisions are as fair as possible for all genders.
